Carpet is often the most expensive chattel in your house and the better care you take of it, the better it will look and the longer it will last.

We'd recommend vacuuming at least once a week and more often in heavy traffic areas. Never rub, brush or massage the carpet pile when it's damp or wet. Clean spills immediately by picking up solids, and blotting up excess liquid with a paper towel, sponge or dry towel. A complete guide to handling specific spills or stains can be found on the Wools Of New Zealand website.

Please be aware that all new carpets will fluff in the short term, shedding loose fibres left in the pile by the manufacturing process. A cut pile will show more of this than a loop pile, however regular vacuuming will remove this.

Cut pile carpets have the possibility of "shading". It is the development of irregular light and dark areas similar to water marks and is permanent, often caused by traffic flows in heavier areas. Shading is an appearance characteristic and does not affect the carpet's durability. It is not considered a manufacturing defect.

Please guard against sunlight damage.

We do ask that you take special care to protect your carpet from the ravages of direct sunlight. In common with all textiles your carpet will fade or change colour in areas consistently exposed to sunlight. Light and pastel coloured carpets are the most vulnerable, but no carpet is immune. North or west facing floor to ceiling windows, or glass doors are the worst offenders and these at the very least should be fitted with effective UV protection.
